Contact and corrections
Corrections are genuinely welcome, particularly on the arithmetic and on the sourcing. This site publishes its constants openly precisely so that they can be checked, and a reader who finds an error is doing the work we would otherwise have to do ourselves.
Reporting an error
The most useful correction names the page, the figure, and what it should be. If you have a primary source we could cite, that is better still — several constants on this site are labelled as assumptions only because we could not find a document we were able to quote, and we would rather they were sourced.
Write to corrections@sumppumpcostcalculator.com. Corrections that change a published figure are made in the data module, which means the methodology page updates with them automatically.
What we are not able to help with
- We cannot tell you what a job should cost in your area. That is the one question we have deliberately declined to answer, and the reasoning is on the methodology page.
- We cannot tell you what your local code requires. Discharge and electrical rules are set locally and your building department is the only reliable source for your address.
- We cannot diagnose a specific basement remotely. If water is arriving faster than a correctly sized pump can move it, that is usually a drainage question and it needs someone on site.
- We do not recommend contractors, and we have no referral arrangements of any kind.
What happens to what you send
Correspondence is used to answer the correspondence. It is not added to a mailing list, it is not sold, and it is not shared. The privacy policy covers the site as a whole.
Note that the calculators themselves send nothing anywhere — they run in your browser. If you want us to look at a specific set of inputs, you will need to include them in the message, because we have no way of seeing what you entered.
